Senior Associate, Policy

The Senior Associate, Policy position will be responsible for collaborating with AHG team members to provide policy, business development, go-to-market, and fundraising support to AHG’s clients to help them seize opportunities and overcome obstacles to their successful growth. The ideal candidate has a proven background working in climate and/or energy, can go deep into the policy, regulatory, and market weeds, and is also an effective networker and advocate with strong political and business instincts.

Interns & Externs

"Joining AHG as an Extern was the perfect opportunity to get a wide-ranging view of the climate tech startup space. My day-to-day responsibilities involved using and building on many of the skills from my prior work as a management consultant: project management, analytics, and developing go-to-market strategies. I was also able to develop my skills in state policy analysis and engagement. In addition to client work, I supported internal projects such as bolstering our inclusive recruiting efforts (a passion of mine) and planning our team’s in-person retreat. I was very happy to come on board full-time after my four-month intro wrapped up!"

Associate

"I joined as a Policy Associate after a few years in the community solar and climate adaptation spaces. My role largely involves tracking relevant state and federal legislation, regulatory proceedings, and other activity and identifying opportunities to engage in support of about four clients across our portfolio. As an Associate, my manager supports my overall growth at AHG, but I also have the opportunity to work closely with others across the organization on strategic projects and initiatives, like climate equity, that matter to me."

Senior Associate

"I joined The Ad Hoc Group as a Senior Associate after completing my MBA. I had joined with a background in the electric and autonomous vehicle startup space. The Ad Hoc Group allowed me to quickly develop expertise serving clients in our grid and industrial decarbonization verticals. The role requires significant ownership: I lead engagements for three clients and support one more, delivering market development strategies and helping clients keep up with state and federal policy movements that will impact their businesses."

"Since joining AHG, I’ve been able to leverage my years in the climate tech space while also building new expertise, learning about new technologies, and growing my network of partners and collaborators. I help source prospective clients and develop work plans and goals that set our clients up for successful projects with AHG. I own the outcomes of our projects and support our Associates and Senior Associates in the delivery of policy and business objectives for our clients. I’ve also gotten to stretch into new functional areas, such as learning how to start a non-profit from scratch as part of our work with the Carbon Removal Alliance. AHG is a dynamic place to work, and I’m always learning from my colleagues and clients."
